Open Letter

Is money your motivation? Your driving force? The reason why you work hard?

Sadly, most of the teachers of today, I'm not saying everyone, is driven by wrong motives-money,power,promotion, personal selfish gain. I do understand that in life's hardship we cannot help but push ourselves to work for these. But if that will be our main reason, it could cause trouble, conflict, exhaustion and confusion even with our very own students.

I still believe that the role of college professors, not only highschool or elementary teachers, is to impart to their students not only knowledge but also wisdom which are two very different concepts. I'm not saying that you should still have hours of sermon and GMRC lessons to these college students, considering they're old enough to know right and wrong. But the most powerful way of imparting wisdom is to set the right EXAMPLE. How you conduct yourselves has a great impact to your students even if you don't notice it or even if they don't say it.

We are all totally aware how widespread corruption is in our country. It has actually become a culture, sad to say. For sure, we all hate that. It's the main reason why our country stays as one of the third-world countries despite the richness God has provided our country. And nobody wants our country to stay this way forever, including you.

They say, if you want to see change, start in your own self. Ask yourself honestly, 'Do I do my part in helping reduce corruption in the country?'. Ask also yourself this very important question, 'As a professor whom students look up to, do I set the right example to them in going against corruption?'. Do your answers sound right and fitting for a professor who is supposed to be one of the heroes and role models of the country.
Remember, in the end, what will matter is not how much you got but how much you gave. Not how much you have succeded but how much you have touched others' life.

To anyone who felt guilty while reading this letter, it's time to think twice! Money may buy you what you want but it will never ever ever get you the much more valuable things in life which includes RESPECT.
                                                             Your Student
